The St. Thomas community has stepped up to help provide face masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As USVI News first reported last week, local businesswoman Genie Lupo, has started creating cotton face masks for the community.
Lupo was able to enlist the help of several seamstresses and fabric cutters to make the masks, and is compensating them for their work, allowing locals to make some extra money during these uncertain times.
Since then, local businesses and community members saw the importance of the effort and have donated thousands of dollars to make sure essential workers as well as others in the community are protecting each other from the spread of the Coronavirus.
If you are able to sew or cut fabric, Lupo says they need more people to help and are looking to provide the work and pay for seamstresses who need it.
