details emerge, as the Attorney
General
of the U.S.
Virgin
Islands,
Denise
George,
files a new lawsuit against the estate of the
late Jeffrey
Epstein.
The
civil suit unveils that the multi-millionaire, and convicted sex
trafficker used two private islands in the territory to traffic and
abuse girls, over two decades, even as recently as 2018.
“Epstein’s
victims deserve answers and accountability, the people of the Virgin
Islands
deserve accountability,” said
George.
And that’s why the attorney general filed a 48-page complaint, claiming Jeffrey Epstein transported underage girls to his secluded homes on two private islands in the VI, carrying out an expansive human trafficking scheme, “The complaint speaks for itself and lays out allegations of a pattern and practice of sexual abuse and forced labor of young women and female children as young as 13 years old,” said George, during a news conference. USVI News was in attendance of Wednesday’s news conference.
Epstein died in prison of suicide, while awaiting trial on federal charges relating to this alleged criminal enterprise.
AG George says this civil lawsuit seeks to recoup hundreds of millions of dollars from Epstein’s VI estate, including the forfeiture of private islands Little St. James and Great St. James, which the suit values at $86 million.
It also seeks the forfeiture of a system of private planes, boats, helicopters and vehicles, used to allegedly bring the victims to his islands, for what the attorney general has dubbed the “Epstein Enterprise.” Through this criminal enterprise the AG’s office says numerous young women and female children were sex trafficked, raped, sexually assaulted, and held captive. George says Epstein carried out and concealed his scheme, along with his other associates, and their investigation uncovered was happening as recently as 2018.
It calls out his associates too, aiming to shut down several LLC’s and companies he established in the territory, which George says acted as fronts for his sex trafficking enterprise, “The conduct of Jeffrey Epstein and his associates shocks the conscious and betrays the deepest principals and laws of the United States Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands is not, and will not be a safe have for human trafficking or sexual exploitation,” said George.
The suit also claims the Epstein Enterprise kept a computerized database to track the availability and movement of women and girls.
Attorney General George is asking any potential victims or witnesses to come forward to their office and report the abuse, as well as anybody with any information regarding the Epstein Enterprise. They’ve set up a hotline number to do so which is (800) 998-7559.
