Poker and race boats, sounds like a pretty good Sunday in St. Thomas.
The 6thAnnual USVI Stars and Stripes Poker Run hit the waters and was the biggest turnout yet.
We caught up with the creator of the race at the awards show Sunday.
“We saw a need for events like these. We realized that our industry was pretty much on the downturn looking at what other jurisdictions were doing like the BVI, Anguilla, St. Marteen and we wanted to just give this a shot in the arm so we stepped out with the idea of getting an event that could attract local boaters. This is our sixth year doing this so we’re super excited as to how far we’ve grown. Every year we see a little more boaters,” Guilderoy Sprauve, Organizer / Creator of the USVI Stars and Stripes Poker Run said.
1S place walked away with $4,000.
Many teams said they look forward to next year.
