Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-V.I.) will not serve as a case manager during the Senate impeachment trial against President Donald Trump.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) named the seven case managers on Wednesday. The group includes House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.).
Plaskett, a former prosecutor, wrote a letter to Pelosi last month asking to be considered for the position. Plaskett tells USVI News she’s okay that she wasn’t picked, and she believes the group Pelosi selected will get the job done.
“Speaker Pelosi decided to go with a much smaller group of members than had been thought of,” Plaskett said. “Some members really were trying to get a larger group. We trust her judgement of who she thinks is able to put our case forward.”
The impeachment trial of former President Andrew Johnson also consisted of seven case managers. The trial of former President Bill Clinton had 13.

The Senate impeachment trial is expected to start on Tuesday.
