New federal dollars coming in to improve health services in the Virgin Islands.
Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett made the announcement that the Dept. of Health and Human Services is sending $1 million to the ST. Thomas East End Medical Center.
In a statement Plaskett said:
“Today, I am pleased to announce a $1,184,580 grant from Health and Human Services (HHS) to the St Thomas East End Medical Center. The St. Thomas Medical Center is a community-based and patient-directed organization that delivers comprehensive, culturally competent, high-quality primary health care services.
“The St. Thomas Medical Center also integrates access to pharmacy, mental health, substance use disorder, and oral health services in areas where economic, geographic, or cultural barriers limit access to affordable health care services. The St. Thomas East End Medical Center delivers care for those most vulnerable individuals and families, including people experiencing homelessness, agricultural workers, residents of public housing, and veterans. This important grant will benefit the Virgin Islands tremendously.”
