WASHINGTON, D.C. – The US State Department announced Americans can apply to get one of the 250-thousand “patriot passports”.
It’s to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. It also features President Donald Trump’s image inside the front cover of this passport. The State Department said they unveiled these limited passports earlier this year but demand was so high, they made an additional 250-thousand passports available to those who request it.
“This is such a huge milestone for the United States and looking back at how much we’ve accomplished as a nation we want to make sure we are really honoring that,” said Luke Ortega, deputy spokesman for the State Department. “We have to remember when we initially offered these we had like 40-thosuand and those ran out and people wanted more. So, we wanted to have a number that was to better meet the demand.”
If you want to get a standard US passport without the President’s image, you can still request that instead of this commemorative one.
The State Department said you can request these limited passports either at a passport agency or submit your request statement by mail. You can find more information on the State Department’s website.
