The 2019 Hurricane Season is just around the corner and VITEMA and FEMA are teaming up to make sure you’re ready.
The season begins on June 1 and goes until November 30th.
The Peak of the hurricane season is from August through October.
Garry Green the Public Information Officer with the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency or VITEMA shares some tips.
“First build a kit, make a family communication plan, and protect your property. Plan based on your current situation and the special needs of your household. When building a kit consider the specific needs of your family, include considerations for elderly, pets,” Garry Green, Public Information Officer with Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) said.
Green adds to make sure you have nonperishable foods, water, and cash on hand.
