It’s a way for millennials to mingle and collaborate.
It’s called ‘The Gathering.’
The happy hour social happened on Friday in St. Croix.
If you brought your business card it was only $3 for entry.
That encouraged young entrepreneurs to get to know one another and talk about their business.
Other businesses were there set up with tables all about their product, like arts, story books and even hats.
Chef Ralph Motta provided the nibbles like quinoa salad and mac and cheese.
Guests also had the chance to tour the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts at night.
There was also free HIV testing featured.
Music and fire dancing ending the productive evening.
We caught up with organizers and participants about the event.
“So I’m showcased in my artwork which is a story called “Hidden Wings of the Time Keeper” the contrary collection is my brand and hidden time keeper is my first book of the contrary collection it goes along with the matching plushie that is made on St. Croix,” Briana Gilbert an author said.
Kareem Edwards the Vice President of the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts said, “the goal of this event is to really bring awareness to the museum. We want members to come on down to the town of Frederiksted and become members of the museum as well as network. As you know there is a really large gap between the millennials and the older people in our community so this is one of the ways that we can bridge that gap and share intergenerational knowledge when it comes to entrepreneurship and networking.”
Julia De Lucia the owner of Coral Fire Entertainment said, “well I’ve been part of organizing this event since it started. I am on the millennial committee that puts on Cocktails and Connections at CMC Arts. And we’ve been able to sponsor every event with some entertainment a lot of volunteer work. We’re just really community minded and this space is particularly beautiful to perform in especially with the fire you can imagine with all these trees around it’s a really picturesque kind of spot.”
“Really great for millennials to come out. Showcase what they’re doing on island so me being part of that group, being able to showcase my catering while also supporting those who are here and enjoying as well as networking amongst others their age, seeing what they’re doing,” Chef Ralph Motta, Former Culinary Ambassador of the US Virgin Islands added.
