Election season is heating up in the Virgin Islands.
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. on Tuesday announced he is running for reelection.
Gov. Bryan, and Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach filed the necessary paperwork at the elections office in St. Croix Tuesday morning.
They were elected in 2018 and took office in January of 2019.
The democratic governor was thrust into the COVID-19 pandemic just a year into his first terms as governor.
So, he spent much of his more than three years in office trying to control the spread of Coronavirus and navigate the necessary mitigation efforts.
So far, independent candidates have also indicated they’re running for the office of V.I. Governor, against the incumbent.
