A man in St. Thomas is under arrest for domestic violence and assault.
According to the Virgin Islands Police Department, it happened Sunday April 7thin the area of Estate Altona
A woman said that around 3 am a man forced his way into her home as she opened the door.
She said the man, 20-year-old Eliandro Tolentino Martinez, told her he wanted to be with her.
A neighbor intervened, but Martinez took her phone and left.
He came back and continued to verbally and then physically abuse her, breaking a rum bottle and cutting her right arm.
Martinez was arrested Sunday.
VIPD Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Dr. Celvin Walwyn recently stated , “I am in full support of all efforts to reduce Domestic Violence in the territory, There is no justification for DV Crimes”.
Martinez was booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of Rights Hearing.
No bail was set as per Domestic Violence Law.
