An inspiring discussion in St. Thomas highlighted the work of a local non-profit organization.
My Brothers Workshop hosted guest speaker Father Greg Boyle.
Boyle is the founder of Home Boy Industries in Los Angeles. It is the largest gang intervention and rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world.
Locally, My Brother’s Workshop offers hope to at risk and high risk young people in the community, offering mentoring, counseling, paid job training and placement.
Executive Director Jenny Hawkes hopes the event raises local awareness of the workshop.
“I hope that actually they find out all of the wonderful updates and we’ve had such tremendous growth within the last few years so not everybody is aware of all the wonderful things that we’re doing so I hope that people take that away as far as learning all about our programs and ways that they can support and ways that they can help because we all know we are a strong community and after the storms we are even stronger.” Hawkes added.
