65-year old Michael Rhymer is facing an assault charge.
USVI Police Department says Rhymer shot a man Monday night around 6 p.m. outside of the Break Time bar near Market Square, following an altercation.
The victim told officers he was at the bar, when he heard a verbal altercation outside.
When he asked Rhymer what happened, he said that’s when Rhymer pulled out a gun and shot him.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, was treated and is in stable condition.
Police say Rhymer is a retired corrections officer. He admitted to shooting the victim and surrendered his licensed gun to officers.
