House Democrats are ramping up investigations this week into President Trump and the White House.
The House Oversight Committee has served subpoenas demanding more information into how top white house officials received their high-ranking security credentials. That includes the President’s senior advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner. He reportedly was denied permanent security clearances for more than a year, with a whistleblower telling congress this week Kushner had what they called “significant disqualifying factors.”
Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett is on the committee. She tells USVI News the committee is still requesting more documents, and could force hearings as well.
“The purpose of the Oversight Committee is to oversee government,” Plaskett said. “When there are questions about issues, if you have nothing to hide then you shouldn’t be afraid to come forward and come in front of the committee.”
Late Wednesday, Democrats also formally requested the IRS to hand over six years of President Trump’s tax returns, something he never released during the 2016 campaign.
