Day three of hearings for President Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen have wrapped up on Capitol Hill.
Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett had some tough questions for Cohen during the only public hearing on Wednesday.
Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress. So for Plaskett, it’s not necessarily what he said this time around, but the evidence he provided that helped her learn more about Trump’s dealings in potential campaign finance violations.
That hearing before the House Oversight Committee lasted more than seven hours Wednesday.
Plaskett was one of 42 House members who questioned Cohen, nearly 1-in-10 members of the House. She focused a lot of questioning on the retainer agreement that both the President and his new counsel Rudy Giuliani claims to exist. So far, top government officials that have asked for it, have not received it. Cohen says that’s because the agreement doesn’t exist.
But Plaskett is confident that the committee gained critical information to advance their case against the president.
“There were issues that came up that I think the Committee is going to review,” Plaskett said. “There may be requests for other individuals who can corroborate to be called by the Committee staff to look into that. We’ll see where it goes from there. But I think it was important for the American people to hear.”

Plaskett also made headlines when she said Florida Congressman and Trump ally Matt Gaetz should be investigated by the Ethics Committee for a tweet appearing to intimidate Cohen. The tweet was released ahead of the Oversight hearing. Plaskett and others are alleging witness tampering. The Florida bar is reportedly already looking into that claim.
You may have seen Plaskett go viral on Twitter over the last day or so with an eyeroll and a back-and-forth conversation with Oversight Ranking Member Jim Jordan. She said she was telling Jordan to respect the Committee and Chairman Elijah Cummings during what was at times a heated hearing.
